On last Friday, Microsoft announced that very soon they are going to open Microsoft Innovation Centers (MICs) in 4 states of India. Microsoft will give a start on this plan by opening 14 centers in 4 states of India.
These innovative centers will provide supports for local start-ups, certifying students on Microsoft technologies as well as it will allow software developers to work on the Microsoft's research & software.
These four states are –
- Andhra Pradesh - 7 centres
- Tamil Nadu - 5 centres
- Madhya Pradesh - 1 centre
- Chhattisgarh - 1 centre
These colleges and technology based MICs will be keep focus on India specific technology challenges in mobility (Windows Phone), cloud (Windows Azure), Kinect, accessibility, and healthcare.
In next 2 years, Microsoft is aiming to set-ups at least 100 MICs in India with 1 Lacs certified professionals. Each MIC will have its territory up to 5 colleges in its area.
